NITDA trains Ogun youth, artisans in digital skills

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) says it has trained at least 40 artisans on digital and Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills in Ogun.
The five-day training, tagged “Digital skills for artisans,” was done in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
Declaring the training open on Monday in Abeokuta, the director general of NITDA, Kashifu Abdullahi, said it was designed to equip and empower young artisans with the necessary digital skills for self-sustenance.
Mr Abdullahi said the training would also equip the participants with the necessary ICT tools to become competitive in the 21st-century digital economy.
According to him, the training would also address the nation’s myriad of problems, especially the skills shortage among unemployed and underemployed youths.
Mr Abdullahi, represented by the project supervisor, Muhammed Abdulraheem, said the training was meant to build the capacity of the Nigerian youth entrepreneurs needing digital skills to improve their businesses.
He said that the purpose of the training was to empower the participants to be able to use the basic tools of IT.
Mr Abdullahi said the participants were drawn from the six local government areas of Ogun Central Senatorial District.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke on the training thanked the federal government for allowing them to acquire more skills in ICT.
