Kim Jung Un, the leader of North Korea, has extended his stay in Russia following his recent visit to the country, where he met with President Vladimir Putin to discuss a possible arms sale.

In a rare summit on Wednesday, the two leaders talked about military issues, the conflict in Ukraine, and potential Russian assistance for the covert state’s satellite programme.

Mr Kim was said to have arrived by train from North Korea.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted without going into further detail that Mr Kim’s visit would last for a number of days after the summit, but Mr Putin had already returned to Moscow, according to the BBC.

Mr Peskov said the leaders also traded gifts.

A Russian-made gun and a glove from a spacesuit “that had been in space several times” were gifts from Mr Putin to Mr Kim. Among other gifts, he offered Mr Putin a rifle made in North Korea.
