NPFL: 3SC, Sunshine Stars record season’s first wins; Enyimba, Lobi whip opponents

Both clubsides won their games on Match Day 4 of the season to bolster their positions in the middle of the table.

Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan and Sunshine Stars FC of Akure on Sunday recorded their first wins of the ongoing 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Both clubsides won their games on Match Day 4 of the season to bolster their positions in the middle of the table in their respective groups of the competition.

Shooting Stars, also known as 3SC, beat visiting El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 2-1 to move to fifth in Group A.

They now have five points from one win, two draws and one loss in four matches, after scoring four goals and conceding five.

On their part, hosts Sunshine Stars were 1-0 winners over Abia Warriors of Umuahia to move to fifth in Group B.

They have six points, with one win and three draws from four matches after scoring four goals and conceding three.

Enyimba International of Aba were 3-0 winners over visiting Kwara United of Ilorin to move into third place behind Remo Stars of Ikenne in Group A.

Other Group A matches have Akwa United of Uyo beating visiting Plateau United of Jos 1-0, while hosts Gombe United drew 1-1 with Nasarawa United of Lafia.

Hosts Lobi Stars of Makurdi whipped visiting Bayelsa United of Yenagoa 3-0 in Makurdi in a Group B fixture to move into second place in the group.

Niger Tornadoes of Minna stayed in third place in Group B in spite of drawing goalless with visiting Rangers International of Enugu in Kaduna.

Hosts Wikki Tourists drew goalless in Bauchi with Doma United of Gombe to remain bottom of Group B.

Both Bendel Insurance of Benin and Rivers United of Port Harcourt lead groups A and B respectively after emphatic wins on Saturday.

While Bendel Insurance beat visiting Remo Stars 3-0 in Benin, Rivers United were 2-1 winners over hosts Dakkada FC in Uyo.
