Oba Elegushi calls for investigation into Mohbad death, denies ties with Sam Larry

The Elegushi Royal Family has denied any ties with alleged cult leader Samson Erinfolami Balogun, popularly known as Sam Larry, and called for an investigation into the death of singer Mohbad.
“Samson Balogun is not a member of the royal family and does not work for the royal family or king in any capacity,” said the statement from the palace.
Mohbad, 27, died on Tuesday, a few weeks after he had petitioned the Assistant Inspector-General of Police heading the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos, over threats to his life by Sam Larry and thugs who allegedly attacked him with guns, cutlasses and other weapons while shooting a video with Zlatan.
Mohbad, in the petition, said Sam Larry claimed the thugs acted on the orders of Elegushi. His exit from Naira Marley-owned Marlian Records allegedly fuelled the numerous attacks, videos of which were shared on social media platforms.
However, the palace denied the alleged claims by Sam Larry, who singer Habeeb ‘Portable’ Olalomi had identified as the founder of the deadly Ajah Boyz, one million boys.
“We would like to add our voice to the calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, to unravel any foul play,” the statement stated.
It added, “We ask our friends in the media to be mindful of the sensitivity of the issue and desist from spreading falsehood that may jeopardise this investigation.”
Given the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, Nigerians on social media have been calling on the police to launch an investigation into the incident and the arrest of Naira Marley and Sam Larry, who is a well-known associate of the Oba Elegushi family, to determine if any foul play was involved.
