Obama’s daughter Malia hired to write new Amazon series ‘Hive’
Actor and rapper Donald Glover has hired ex-U.S. President Barack Obama’s daughter, Malia Obama, as one of the writers of his new Amazon series tentatively titled ‘Hive’, reportedly about a Beyonce-type character.
Speaking of Malia’s credentials, the actor said, “She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard… I feel like she’s just somebody who’s gonna have really good things coming soon.”
Also working on the Amazon series is Stephen Glover (Donald’s sibling), who described Malia’s writing style as “great.”
“Donald always says perspective is important, and people with different perspectives are important for a writers’ room,” he explained. “And for sure, (Malia) definitely has a unique perspective on everything. So we wanted to hear her stories and have her work with us.”
Glover noted that Malia likely has a successful Hollywood career ahead of her.
She had worked as an intern on the HBO series ‘Girls’ and as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s show ‘Extant’, although her writing career began after her parents reached chart-topping success with their memoirs, with former first lady Michelle Obama‘s ‘Becoming’ and Obama‘s ‘A Promised Land’.
