Obasa emerges as Lagos 10th Assembly speaker

Mr Obasa, the most senior ranking member of the parliament, was nominated by Temitope Adewale and seconded by Sylvester Ogunkelu.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday proclaimed the 10th Lagos Assembly, and legislators unanimously elected Mudashiru Obasa as speaker for a third term.

The lawmakers elected Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, a third-term lawmaker representing Apapa I as the deputy speaker.

Mr Obasa, the most senior ranking member of the parliament, was nominated by Temitope Adewale and seconded by Sylvester Ogunkelu.

Deputy majority leader Noheem Adams was returned to his position. Adedamola Kasunmu was elected the deputy majority leader.

Mojeed Fatai of Ibeju Lekki I was elected as the chief whip, while David Setonji was elected deputy chief whip.
