Obi decries murder of 13 Katsina mosque worshippers, blames Tinubu

Peter Obi has condemned the killing of 13 people in a violent attack on a mosque in Malumfashi LGA in Katsina on Tuesday, blaming President Bola Tinubu for failing to address the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
No fewer than 13 worshippers were killed and several others wounded in the early hours of Tuesday morning when bandits surrounded and opened sporadic gunfire on a mosque in Unguwan Mantau in what various reports said was a reprisal attack on the village.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mr Obi described the attack on the village as unacceptable, noting that the incident further demonstrated how little regard society has for human lives under the current All Progressives Congress government.
“The killing of innocent souls is unacceptable, even more so when it involves people who had gone to worship their Creator,” the former Anambra governor said. “This incident highlights, once again, the extent to which human life has been debased in our society.”
Speaking further, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election decried the complicity of the ruling party in the problems affecting Nigeria, adding that the issues will persist until they are addressed.
Mr Obi added, “So long as we fail to address crucial social challenges such as unemployment, and so long as we continue to operate a system that drives more people into multidimensional poverty, we will continue to experience these ugly consequences.
“My condolences go to the immediate families of those killed at the mosque, and to the entire worshipping community of Unguwan Mantau in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.”
