Ogun: 11 casualties recorded in Ewekoro road crash
Three people were confirmed dead and eight injured in a crash involving a Toyota Corolla car and a Nissan Micra taxi at Ile Ise Paanu, Ewekoro local council area of Ogun.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps’ spokesman, confirmed the incident in Abeokuta on Friday.
Mr Akinbiyi said the crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. due to excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the Corolla car.
He added that the driver of the Corolla marked LND 618 FQ lost control and rammed into the Nissan Micra taxi with registration number AKM 590 YQ.
“According to (an) eyewitness, the driver of the Corolla car, due to excessive speed, lost control while in motion and rammed into the Micra taxi from the back while passengers in the taxi were alighting from it,” he said.
Mr Akinbiyi explained that 11 people were involved in the crash comprising four males and seven females, adding that eight people were injured while three died.
The TRACE spokesman said the injured and the deceased were taken to General Hospital, Ijaiye and Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, respectively.
