Ogun: FRSC arrests 16 motorists for speeding

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun command, has arrested 16 motorists for speeding.
The corps made the arrests during a special intervention patrol along the Sagamu–Abeokuta Express Road on Wednesday.
The sector commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, led the operation alongside the Head of Operations of the agency in the state.
Mr Fasakin said the patrol was conducted as part of efforts to achieve the corps’ 2025 corporate strategic goal of reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries by 10 per cent.
He identified speeding as a major cause of road traffic crashes in the state.
“We have deployed a laser radar gun to monitor vehicular speed, and we apprehended motorists who violated the speed limits.
“A total of 16 motorists were booked for speeding during the patrol and we also ensured that speed limiting devices were installed in the vehicles of offending drivers,” he said.
The commander also cautioned motorists against overloading, noting that the practice and speeding significantly increase the risk of fatal crashes, especially during periods of high vehicular movement.
He urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and prioritise safety on highways at all times.
Mr Fashakin also assured residents of Ogun of a safe motoring environment, adding that the special intervention patrols would continue on major roads across the state throughout the yuletide season.
