Ogun NSCDC deploys 3,150 personnel for LG polls

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps ( NSCDC), Ogun Command, says it has earmarked 3,150 personnel for the security and success of forthcoming local government elections in the state.
The commandant of corps (CC) of the NSCDC, Remilekun Ekundayo, said this in an interview with journalists in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Ms Ekundayo said that the personnel would ensure the safety of voters and stop any protest during the election.
NSCDC was established in 1967 and formally recognised by an Act of Parliament in 2003.
The defence arm has many responsibilities, including protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, safeguarding critical infrastructure, among others
Ms Ekundayo said the personnel were deployed across the 20 local governments of the state.
She, however, warned those who planned to hijack the polls to perpetuate any mayhem to desist.
According to the NSCDC boss, the defence arm will not hesitate to take necessary actions against them.
She said that the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, had vowed to take it seriously to ensure the election was free, fair and credible.
Ogun local government elections will take place on Nov. 16.
