Oliver Glasner becomes Forest’s fifth coach in one year

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis described the manager as “a winner,” acknowledging his leadership and style of play.

Nottingham Forest have appointed former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as the club’s fifth head coach in one year.

The Austrian manager’s appointment was confirmed by the club on Monday as the successor to Portuguese head coach Vitor Pereira, whose contract was terminated before an exit clause was due to expire.

Glasner expressed his delight at joining the club, saying his “immediate focus is on meeting the players and staff and getting to work” ahead of preseason.

He added that he is “excited for the future and will work tirelessly to represent this great club with pride and to bring success on the pitch”.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis described the manager as “a winner,” acknowledging his leadership and style of play.

“We believe he is the right person to lead us into this next chapter, and I am delighted to welcome Oliver to the club,” Marinakis said.

Glasner arrives at the City Ground after guiding Palace to winning the FA Cup, Conference League, and Community Shield titles.

Nottingham Forest have had a rough managerial timeline.

In December 2023, the club appointed Nuno Espirito Santo on a three-year contract. He was sacked in September 2025 after his relationship with Forest’s owner Marinakis broke down despite leading the club to secure a European spot.

Ange Postecoglou was appointed in September 2025 but lasted only 39 days after a poor run of results.

Sean Dyche replaced the Australian manager in October 2025 but was also dismissed after the club decided performances had not been good enough.

Vitor Pereira was later appointed in February 2026, helping the club avoid relegation, before being dismissed on June 30 with one year left on his contract.
