Ondo APC suspends Rep, Assembly members, 20 others over anti-party activities

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state has suspended the federal lawmaker representing Akoko SouthEast/SouthWest Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Ade Adeogun and the state lawmaker representing Akoko South West Constituency I, at the State House of Assembly, Gbenga Omole.
Messrs Adeogun and Omole were suspended alongside over twenty local leaders and members of the APC in the Akoko area of the state, in a letter signed by the chairman of the party in the local government Area, Sehinde Mise.
Peoples Gazette exclusively obtained a copy of the letter dated Saturday, April 29, 2023, which was addressed to the chairman of the party in Ondo, Ade Adetimehin.
In the letter, the suspended members were accused of “gross anti-party activities” before and during the 2023 general elections in the state.
The party LGA executives claimed they had earlier received complaint letters about the alleged anti-party activities of the erring members from the wards in Akoko SouthWest in March and April 2023 and decided to set an independent fact-finding committee to investigate those involved in the allegations contrary to Article 9.2 (1) and (111) of the party constitution.
It, however, added that the members were found culpable of the allegations levelled against them based on the recommendation of the committee, they were suspended from the party.
Other members suspended included; Yaya Adelakun, Abubakar Alonge (Ward 1); Segun Olukoju (Ward 3); Sunday Ajulu, Olumide Akomolafe (Ward 4); Sunday Oteruku (Ward 5); Paul Adejoro, Ayelure Ebo (Ward 6); Opeyemi Igbede (Ward 7); Tenabel Busuyi, Alege Monday, Adedji Dupe, Okajare Idowu, Oyinbosokun Oluwole (Ward 9); Sunday Olasukanmi (Ward 10); Kayode Mary, Alimi Taiwo, Idowu Olanusi, Bankole Adefarati, Bodude Johnson, Stella Akinsule (Ward 11); Tolu Babaleye (Ward 13); Jide Ayegbusi, Gbenga Abimbola (Ward 14); Alaba Alabi, Musa Olisa (Ward 15).
“The Local Government Executive Committee of the Party (APC) hereby places the above-listed persons on suspension from the party and further bans them from participating in any party (APC) activity or doing anything in the name of the party,” the copy of the letter read.
Several efforts by The Gazette to reach Messrs Adeogun and Omole, however, proved abortive as the official lines of the two men were not connecting as of the time of filing this report.
But a close aide to one of the lawmakers, who does not want his name published said “the media would soon hear from my principal soon.”
