The Ondo State House of Assembly has reiterated its commitment to addressing governmental and constitutional issues with vision and fear of God in the interest of good governance.

Speaker of the assembly, Olamide Oladiji, stated this at the Government House Chapel, Akure, on Sunday.

Members of the assembly attended a special Sunday service at the chapel.

The service was part of the state government’s agenda that ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) should set aside a day to worship at the chapel.

Mr Oladiji, who said that Nigeria needed leaders with vision and foresight to overcome its challenges, promised that as lawmakers, they would continue to enact laws that would improve the lives of the people of the state.

He said that the State High Court bill, assented to by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa recently, was a testament that the legislature put the people first in its dealings.

The speaker assured that the legislature would continue to work with the executive arm to achieve success for the betterment of the entire citizenry.

Mr Oladiji noted that, in spite of various challenges as human beings, they were still marching forward.

He expressed joy for the gift of life, saying it was necessary for lawmakers and civil servants in the assembly to join their faith together as they journeyed in the remaining months of 2024.

In his remarks, Mr Aiyedatiwa welcomed the lawmakers to the service, praying that God would bless them with greatness.

Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Michael Ogunboyede stressed the need for human beings to always be thankful to God, as they owed their existence to his grace and mercy.

Mr Ogunboyede, who tagged his sermon “Good Leadership is Not Expressed by Age,” quoted copiously from the scriptures to drive home his message.

He urged the worshippers to be transparent, honest, maintain integrity and love one another, adding that these were things that could strengthen organisational and societal development.

The clergyman implored people to make adjustments as they were going into the second half of the year, do what was right both internally and externally, make a difference and be fruitful.

Intercessory prayers were offered for peace, blessings and the development of the state and its people.
