One dead, four injured in Lagos multiple road crash

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) on Thursday said one person died, while four were injured in a multiple accident in Lagos metropolis.
The LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement issued in Lagos, said that the accident happened at Cele bus stop inward Mile 2.
“On arrival of the agency’s LRT at the scene, it was discovered that there was a multiple accident involving a MACK truck with unknown registration number conveying twin 20ft containers,” he said.
Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said other vehicles at the accident scene were a Volkswagen bus, a Highlander SUV and a Toyota RAV4.
According to him, information at the scene revealed that the truck driver lost control and collided with the vehicles ahead of it.
“Unfortunately an adult male, the bus driver, lost his life to the incident while four injured victims — three males and one female, have been transported to hospital,” he said.
He said the agency’s LRT, Federal Road Safety Corps, the agency’s paramedics and the police were the responders present at the scene.
“The remains of the deceased have been bagged and handed over to the relatives,” he said.
Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said that the agency requested for police coverage to manage the safety of the first responders.
Meanwhile,the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, in a statement,also said its men were involved in the rescue operation.
