One dead, one injured in lone accident in Niger: FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says one person died and another sustained various degrees of injury in a lone accident in Gwaba village of Tafa Local Government Area of Niger on Tuesday.
Kumar Tsukwam, the state sector commander, told journalists that the bus involved was loaded with bags of kola nuts.
Mr Tsukwam said the accident occurred at about 08:30 a.m. on July 26, on the Abuja-Kaduna road, adding “Three people were involved in the lone accident. One died, one injured, and one unhurt.”
He explained that the injured victim was taken to Talakawa Health Consultancy Services, Gwada, while the body was taken to Sabon Wuse General Hospital.
Mr Tsukwam said the vehicle was handed over to the Tafa Division Police station.
The sector commander blamed the accident on fatigue, leading to a loss of control.
He said the command had embarked on a special patrol of Suleja-Abuja, Tafa-Kaduna, Minna-Bida-Mokwa, Suleja-Minna-Lambata-Agwai-Bida and Minna-Zungeru-Tegina-Kontagora roads.
“We have deployed sufficient personnel in the metropolis and across all major highways to check the activities of reckless drivers,” he said.
The sector commander warned motorists against overloading, dangerous driving and speed limit violations to reduce road accidents during the festive periods.
