Onigbongbo LCDA leader distributes 150 food packs to residents

Kayode Opayemi, leader, legislative council, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, on Saturday, distributed no fewer than 150 food packs to residents of the council area.
Mr Opayemi distributed the packs during a house-to-visit to Opebi and Allen Avenue areas.
Speaking during the exercise, he said he distributed the packs to give back to residents and put smiles on their faces.
The council legislator, born on Dec. 25, said the yearly exercise started in 2007 at Opebi and that many members of his constituency had since benefitted.
“This started when I was the special adviser to the then chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Idowu Obasa.
“It started as a form of support for widows as part of the council’s programme for the annual Opebi Youth Carnival, and it ran till 2011.
“In 2012, I decided to take it as my own programme, so the first one was done that year and 70 widows and 80 less privileged people benefitted.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, people were also given palliatives. We are happy the programme has not stopped.
“This festive period and to commemorate my birthday, we are sharing over 150 food packs to residents.
“This time around, it is done house-to-house to the beneficiaries, to spread love and put smiles on their faces during this period,” he said.
The leader prayed that the Renewed Hope mantra of President Bola Tinubu’s administration would yield the desired results and touch lives in the constituency in 2024 and beyond.
“I wish all the members of my ward all the best in this festive season.
“I pray that the Renewed Hope mantra of this new government shall yield so much positively in their lives come next year, 2024 and beyond,” he said.
