Only Peter Obi can bring change to Nigeria, says LP chairman

The chairman dismissed the notion that the party’s presidential candidate stood no chance of winning the 2023 presidential election.

Baron Eyo, chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Cross River, says Peter Obi remains the only aspirant that can bring about the “impossible” change Nigerians yearn for.

Speaking with journalists in Calabar on Tuesday, Mr Eyo dismissed the notion that the party’s presidential candidate stood no chance of winning the 2023 presidential election.

Mr Eyo, also chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River, said Mr Obi’s antecedent in office as governor and as a businessman was already working for him.

He said that Mr Obi’s acceptability by most Nigerians had made him the candidate to beat in the 2023 presidential election.

“Obi’s candidacy is already becoming a movement; you can see many Nigerians donating their resources, money, vehicles and buildings to be part of the movement.”

Mr Eyo said Nigerians need a vibrant young person that can coordinate the country in areas of security and education, among other sectors.

“It is not about just being a president, the president should be someone who can be called upon at any time, and he will take up the challenge,” he said.

Mr Eyo also said that “Obi has come to rekindle the winning spirit of the Labour Party,” noting that the party has “structures across the country.”
