Osun State Amotekun Corps said on Wednesday that it was focusing and doubling efforts towards crime reduction in the state this year.

The state commander of the corps, Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), said this at a news conference in Osogbo.

Mr Adewinmbi lauded the efforts of his operatives, describing their dedication and commitment to duty last year as commendable.

He warned criminals in the state that Amotekun would be coming after them with full force this year, saying there would be no hiding place for them.

He said the corps remained focused on achieving its target of reducing criminal activities in the state.

Mr Adewinmbi said, “We will intensify and sustain our efforts to preserve and build on the successes we have achieved in the past year. Our various units will continue to conduct strategic intelligence-led exercises.

“We will also maintain and intensify our operations to protect the residents of the state and give citizens the confidence and assurance that we are working to ensure their safety and security.”

The corps commander attributed the success recorded by the corps in 2023 to the dedication, resilience and doggedness of his operatives.

He urged them not to relent in making Osun a crime-free state.

He assured the residents of the security of their lives and property, urging them to be vigilant and conscious of their environment.

He appealed to the public to always contact the corps or other security agencies when they observed strange faces or movements in their neighbourhood.
