Osun-Osogbo: Police nab suspect over alleged theft of five phones during festival

The police in Osun have arrested a 28-year-old suspect who allegedly stole five mobile phones during the Osun-Osogbo festival on Friday.
This is contained in a statement by the police command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, made available to journalists on Monday in Osogbo.
Mr Ojelabi said the anti-cultism unit of the command arrested the suspect with two Samsung phones, one Infinix phone, one Vivo phone and one Techno phone.
He said the suspect confessed to stealing the phones during the Osun-Osogbo festivities.
The spokesperson also said that personnel of the command arrested six suspected members of a secret cult alleged to have invaded Osun Mall at Fakunle Area, Osogbo, with dangerous weapons.
“The police received information that some hoodlums, suspected to be members of Aiye Confraternity with dangerous weapons, invaded Osun Mall on Thursday, at about 12:30 p.m.
“Upon receipt of the information, police detectives from the anti-cultism unit of the command swung into action and apprehended six suspects.
“During investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime,” he said.
Mr Ojelabi said that all the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, as advising parents and guardians to warn their wards to shun unlawful societies that could jeopardise their future.
Mr Ojelabi also called on persons whose phones were stolen during the Osun-Osogbo festival to call the Osun PPRO on 09060052947 to claim their phones.
