Governor Gboyega Oyetola has warned residents, especially non-indigenes, against harbouring criminals in their homes, insisting that suspicious movement must be reported to the appropriate agencies in the interest of continued peaceful co-existence in the state.

Speaking at the turbaning of Ayuba Lugu, as the new Seriki of the Hausa Community in Ibokun town, Mr Oyetola also assured that his administration would continue providing adequate security.

“But you must also support the government by not harbouring criminals. Always report cases of breakdown of law to the appropriate authority on time,” he said.

The governor said that addressing the country’s current security challenges must be considered a collective responsibility of all Nigerians.

He said it also required the citizenry’s support to provide the partnership upon which the security architecture could be improved.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the governor, said that the continuous weaponisation of religion, ethnicity and promotion of cultural differences must stop for the country to remain peaceful and united.

Mr Oyetola stressed the need for social cohesion through dialogue, justice and equity to sustain peaceful co-existence among the people living in the country.

The governor said that for peace and unity to be attained among the populace, Nigerians must see themselves as one before any other considerations.

In his remarks, the Baabokun of Ibokun, Oba Festus Awogboro, promised to sustain peaceful co-existence among indigenes and non-indigenes in his domain.

Also, Shuaib Gomina, the Seriki Hausa Community in Osun, commended the governor for providing enabling environment for peaceful co-existence among the indigenes and non-indigenes in the state.
