Oyo declares Monday work-free day for teachers

The Oyo State Government has declared Monday as a work-free day for teachers across the state to commemorate this year’s Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Day.
In a statement on Sunday by the spokesman to the governor, Suleimon Olanrewaju, said the secretary to the state government, Musibau Babatunde, gave the directive on Sunday.
He said the declaration was in recognition of the contributions of teachers to the development of the state’s education sector and human capital.
He stated, “The work free day is intended to provide teachers with the opportunity to fully participate in activities organised to celebrate their contributions, reflect on progress within the education sector, and strengthen unity within the teaching community.”
The government congratulated the teachers on the occasion and reaffirmed its commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving teaching and learning across the state.
