More than two months after the fall of former ruler Bashar al-Assad, an international conference in Paris will explore ways to achieve a political transition in Syria on Thursday.

In addition to the host, France, representatives from Germany,  Turkey, the U.S., the Arab states, the United Nations and the European Union are expected to attend.

The French said the aim of the meeting is to coordinate the respective efforts for a peaceful transition, with the changes in the country ensuring representation and stability.

They also want to improve coordination in providing aid to the people of Syria after years of civil war.

The fight against impunity from justice is also on the agenda.

The Syrian transitional government is also concerned about the question of how the proposed easing of the sanctions that were imposed against the former Assad government is progressing.
