PDP Crisis: Party members will move with Gov Mutfwang, says Dachung Bagos

Dachung Bagos, the immediate past member representing Jos South/East federal constituency, says the people of Plateau will support Governor Caleb Mutfwang irrespective of his party affiliation.
Mr Bagos, in an interview on Monday, said that regardless of the political platform the Plateau governor eventually chooses, the people of Plateau are committed to ensuring he secures a second term in office.
He said that the crisis in the PDP had made it impossible for serious politicians in the state to rely on the party’s structures, especially with the unresolved conflict between the Seyi Makinde and Nyesom Wike-led factions.
According to him, although the PDP remains beloved in Plateau, sentiment alone cannot deliver an electoral victory.
“In the PDP today, who is going to sign my form?” he asked. “Plateau is PDP, yes, but you cannot win elections on sentiment. We must tell ourselves the truth.”
The former lawmaker explained that if the PDP failed to put its house in order before 2027, politicians in the state would act in line with the prevailing realities.
“The reality is that the Plateau people will rally round Governor Mutfwang, not the party. We are so much in love with the governor, and wherever he goes, we will support him. Loyalty this time is to the candidate, not the party,” he said.
Mr Bagos noted that for the average Plateau person, the most important thing was for Mr Mutfwang to be governor.
“Plateau wants Mutfwang, period,” he stated.
