PDP responsible for ‘needless’ #EndSARS protest, COVID-19 spread: APC

The Lagos State chapter of the APC on Sunday alleged that the leading opposition party, PDP, sponsored and promoted the #EndSars protest that rocked major cities across Nigeria in October 2020.
Seye Oladejo, the APC’s publicity secretary in Lagos, accused PDP of promoting lawlessness, which according to him, was evident during the protest, during which many Nigerians were killed at the Lekki Tollgate by the military.
Mr Oladejo made the accusations while reacting to the visit by the PDP governorship candidate, Olajide’ Jandor’ Adediran and his running mate to persons whose vehicles were auctioned for violating traffic rules by the Lagos government.
“However, we are not surprised by the promotion of lawlessness by the opposition party as it remains consistent with their desperation as we count down to the next elections,” Mr Oladejo said.
He added, “their role in the spread of COVID-19 with the promotion and sponsorship of needless mass gatherings- ENDSARS- during the pandemic and the social events hosted by his deputy, Funke Akindele are pointers to the lawlessness of the duo and their party.”
Ms Akindele had flouted COVID-19 rules when she organised a house party to celebrate her estranged husband, JJC Skillz, on his birthday in April 2020.
“We expect Funke to be eternally grateful to the state governor for receiving less than a slap on her wrist for a life-threatening crime against the state,” Mr Oladejo added.
The APC spokesperson also stated that the opposition party had nothing to offer and that its chances of winning in the South-West were slim.
He added, “We recommend the recent honest admission of the former national deputy chairman of PDP, Chief Bode George, that the opposition party has no hope of winning elections in the South-West to the political neophytes so that they can put their desperation in check.”
