Petrol Scarcity: Normalcy appears to be returning to Abuja filling stations

Normalcy in the dispensation of petrol is returning to the fuel stations in the FCT after a week of scarcity.
Long fuel queues and scarcity were experienced in Abuja and some parts of the country, causing hardship for citizens.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited said the queues resulted from a disruption of ship-to-ship fuel transfer between mother and daughter vessels resulting from a recent thunderstorm.
It said adverse weather conditions, including rainstorms and lightening, had also affected berthing at jetties, truck load-outs and transportation of products to fuel stations; causing a disruption in station supply logistics.
The NNPC Ltd. and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) had embarked on a joint monitoring of supply and distribution of fuel at stations in the FCT and across the country to ensure that queues disappear.
However, checks at fuel stations in the city and suburbs on Friday noticed that the queues have eased off while normalcy is returning. Many stations in the city centre, including Total, Cornoil, NNPC Ltd. Retail Mega Station, Church Gate and NNPC Ltd. retail outlets at Wuse Zone 1 and Zone 3 are dispensing fuel without queues.
The NNPC Ltd. retail station in Dankogi, Apo Resettlement and AA Rano, by NEPA Apo, are also dispensing fuel to motorists with few queues.
Along Nyanya-Karshi road, AA Rano, JANEP, NIPCO, and Mobile fuel stations sell fuel without queues.
Along Kubwa Express Way, NIPCO, Eterna, AA Rano Katampe, NNPC Ltd. retail off Katampe and Conoil, and Galadima are seen selling without queues.
NIPCO, SALBAS and Shafa (Shafa at N690 per litre) along the Airport road are also selling without queues.
NNPC’s retail outlets sell at N617 per litre, while the independent marketers sell between N660 and N900 per litre.
Along the Karshi route, Mobil sells at N667, AP at N660, JANEP at N900, AA Rano at N660, while NIPCO at Karu sells at N675 per litre.
