Governor Caleb Mutfwang says Plateau is organising the Christmas Carols and Praise Festivals to promote unity, togetherness, and tolerance among residents.

Mr Mufwang said this on Tuesday night, shortly after inspecting facilities at the Ten Commandment Prayer ground in Du, Jos South LGA, the venue of the event.

The governor insisted that his administration is poised towards ensuring a more united, peaceful and tranquil Plateau.

“The whole essence of these carols is to bring our people together; it is a ground to unite Plateau people and to begin to break all barriers. This programme will enable our people to come out of their shells and know that together we are much stronger. I believe that going forward, this is going to be one of the biggest platforms to unite Plateau people,” he said.

Samuel Jatau, the secretary to the state government and chairman of the central planning committee of the carols, said the event would be a memorable one.

Mr Jatau said that the three-day event would be held on Friday and Sunday. He disclosed that former military head of state Yakubu Gowon, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, and culture minister Hannatu Musawa would attend the event.

Mr Jatau also disclosed that former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Paul Enenche, the senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, would serve as the guest speakers at the event.

He added that the event would feature song ministration from guest artists and other groups from within and outside the state.(NAN)
