Plateau governor urges African leaders to seek global support to address poverty

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has urged African leaders to demonstrate trustworthiness and seek global support aimed at addressing poverty on the continent.
Mr Mutfwang made the call at the Liberty University, Lynchburg 2023 CEO Summit in the U.S.
In a statement by his spokesman Gyang Bere, the governor stressed the importance of accountability in leadership in handling internally-generated wealth and international support for development.
“I acknowledge that we haven’t shown the leadership needed to earn trust. Our people have experienced cycles of hope and despair,” said the governor. “It is time for Leaders in Africa to acknowledge our role in underdevelopment of the continent, enough is enough; we must rise to the occasion.”
The governor also called for strategic engagements with trustworthy national and sub-national leaders, while calling on implementers of development support initiatives to adhere to only conditions that align with their values.
He also affirmed his administration’s commitment to use both internal resources and support from international development partners for the good of Plateau citizens and Nigerians.
