The Plateau state government has once again further relaxed the curfew imposed on the Jos-Bukuru metropolis.

This announcement was made in a statement signed by the director of press and public affairs, Gyang Bere, on Friday.

“Effective from Saturday, August 10, 2024, residents are now permitted to carry out their lawful activities between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily, until further notice,” the statement read.

The decision, authorised by Governor Caleb Mutfwang after consultations with security agencies, was made in response to the “commendable conduct of residents,” the statement added.

Mr Mutfwang initially imposed a 24-hour curfew last Saturday after irate youths in Jos North began vandalising properties and creating tension within the state capital.

The curfew was first relaxed on Wednesday, allowing movement between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. It was further relaxed on Thursday, permitting movement from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
