Plateau LG boss presents N11.4 billion appropriation bill to council
The chairman of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Silas Dung, has presented N11.4 billion as an appropriation bill for the 2025 fiscal year to the council’s legislative arm on Wednesday.
Mr Dung, who tagged the bill “Budget of Restoration,” said that it is aimed at rebuilding the LGA toward better service delivery.
He explained that the budget was divided into recurrent and capital expenditures, with a strong emphasis on addressing immediate needs while investing in long-term development.
The chairman added that the budget was a bold step toward addressing the current challenges confronting the area, adding that it would also lay a foundation for sustainable development.
He said, “This budget is more than a financial plan; it is a blueprint for transformation. This proposal reflects our commitment to restoring hope, rebuilding infrastructure, and empowering our people.
“We have endured difficult times, but we are determined to turn the page and write a new chapter of progress and prosperity. So, this is designed to address these challenges head-on, with a focus on rebuilding critical infrastructure, improving social services, and creating economic opportunities for our people.”
The chairman noted that the budget would be financed through internally generated revenue (IGR), the statutory revenue allocation, the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), value-added tax (VAT), and ecological funds.
He highlighted the council’s efforts toward improving revenue collection and ensuring financial sustainability in the LGA.
Speaking, Leader of the legislative arm, Chomo Shen, promised to ensure speedy passage of the bill.
Mr Shen also promised to support and collaborate with the chairman toward the growth and development of the council.
