Police arraign man, 20, for alleged shop breaking, theft

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 20-year-old man Olamide Idowu before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged shop breaking and stealing of goods worth N1 million.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of shop breaking and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on September 4 about 02:00 a.m in Ikere-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant broke into the shop of one Ogunmodede Margret and stole provisions worth about N1 million, belonging to the complainant.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Ayorinde Busuyi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till October 10 for hearing.
