Police arraign man over alleged theft of property worth N370,000

The police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned 26-year-old Toeeb Ibrahim in the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of a property worth N370,000.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is being charged with stealing and a breach of the peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences at about 12.35.a.m on July 27, at Apodo, Ilogbo, Lagos.
Mr Ekpo also alleged that the defendant broke and entered into the house of the complainant, one Kudirat Salami, and made away with the property.
He stated, “The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace by causing pandemonium. He was arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution. The offences contravened Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.’’
The Chief Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Mr Layeni said that one of the sureties must be self- employed.
He adjourned the case until September 3 for mention.
