Police arrest suspected drug peddler in Enugu

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command in collaboration with Forest Guards, on Friday, arrested one Elias Ukachukwu Agu, over alleged sale of illicit drugs and other substances.
In a statement on Tuesday, spokesperson for the command, Daniel Ndukwe, said the suspect was nabbed during a raid of his container shop at Amaowere-Nike, where he conducts the illigate trade.
Mr Ndukwe said, “In compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, operatives of Unity Division, in collaboration with Forest Guards, on 19th September 2025 at about 7:00 a.m., raided an alleged notorious container shop used for peddling illicit drugs at Amaowere-Nike, Enugu
“The intelligence-guided operation led to the arrest of one suspect, Elias Ukachukwu Agu (male, aged 43), who, upon interrogation, confessed to being involved in the sale of illicit drugs and substances.”
He said the operatives during the raid recovered 14 cups and 25 sachets of a substance suspected to be Canadian Loud commonly called Loud; six sachets of a substance suspected to be Colorado, commonly called colos, both variants of cannabis; one weed crusher and two packets of Rizla.
Stating that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation, Mr Ndukwe stated that the CP he cautioned the public, especially young people, against engaging in the sale, purchase, or use of illicit drugs, as he reiterated his the command’s commitment to ridding the state of crime.
