Police arrest two suspected cattle rustlers, recover stolen cows worth N6.25 million

The Oyo State police command said it arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered stolen cows worth N6.25 million.
In a statement on Thursday, its spokesman, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the two suspects were arrested following a distress complaint lodged at its Iresadu Division.
The state police spokesman said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects attempted to conceal the stolen cattle before they were intercepted at Odojaye, along Aganyan, in the Iresadu Local Government Area of the state.
According to Mr Olayinka, the suspects identified as Abu Muhammed and Aliu Bello, confessed to the theft.
Mr Olayinka said, “The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the public that two suspected cattle rustlers, Abu Muhammed and Aliu Bello, have been apprehended following a swift response to a report received at Iresadu Division.”
The police said it recovered 26 stolen cows, estimated at N6,250,000, assuring of ongoing efforts to recover the remaining stolen livestock and apprehend other members of the gang.

ors are brought to justice,” the spokesman stated.
The command thanked the public for promptly reporting the incident, noting that the assistance of other partners, particularly non-state actors, contributed to the success of the operation.
The command urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that would assist ongoing investigation and enhance public safety.
