Police arrest woman for murdering 12 friends

A pregnant woman was arrested by Thai police for allegedly poisoning 12 of her friends with cyanide.
The 35-year old Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn was arrested in Bangkok on Tuesday after an autopsy revealed that the victims died of lethal poison.
A victim’s family had raised suspicions after she died on a trip with Ms Rangsiwuthaporn earlier this month.
Authorities in Thailand said Ms Rangsiwuthaporn killed 11 other people including an ex-boyfriend this week.
Families of the victims alleged that jewellery and money were missing from the victims bodies and bank account.
Police said the victims, aged between 33 and 44, died between December 2020 and April 2023.
Police allege that she killed people for financial reasons but she denied all the charges against her.
Thai local media said a bottle of cyanide was found in Ms Rangsiwuthaporn’s possession.
Cyanide can be detected in corpses after death, if a lethal was used. The poison starves the body’s cells of oxygen, which can induce heart attacks.
