Assistant Inspector General of Police Bello Dalijan has urged personnel deployed in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States for Yuletide festivities to be mindful of the fundamental human rights of the citizens.

The police chief asked his men to discharge their responsibilities professionally, with all sense of decorum and alertness.

In a statement by Adamu Abbas, the Zone 10 police spokesman, on Sunday, Mr Dalijan told police commissioners in the respective states to deploy proactive strategies in safeguarding peoples’ lives and properties in the Yuletide festivities.

He urged the Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Tactical Commanders in the zone to beef up security ahead of the Christmas and New year celebrations.

Mr Dalijan said the measure is aimed at preventing any unforeseen situation in their areas of responsibility throughout the Christmas season and beyond.

The AIG reiterated police commitment on continued efforts aimed at decimating crimes and criminality and improving public safety.

Mr Dalijan advised the supervisory commissioners to ensure adequate deployment of officers and assets to prevent the occurrence of crimes and criminality as well as build confidence amongst the citizens.

The police boss charged officers and men of the Force to engage in critical assessment of threat-prone areas, thorough stop and search, raids on black spots and other anti-crime strategies capable of sustaining peace and public safety in the zone.

He called on people to report all suspicious individuals, movements, or activities to the police for prompt intervention and urged them to cooperate with operatives to safeguard people’s lives and properties.
