Police foil bandits’ attack in Katsina, arrest suspect

The Katsina State Police Command says it repelled an attack by armed bandits on two communities in the Dandume Local Government Area of the state and arrested one suspected bandit.
In a statement on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, said the incident occurred on April 28, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. when bandits invaded Unguwar Bido and Unguwar Kanawa villages.
It stated, “On April 28th, 2026, at about 10:00 pm, a distress call was received that a large number of heavily armed bandits had invaded the villages. Upon receipt of the report, swiftly, the DPO Dandume mobilised teams of police operatives and responded to the scene.
He said the operatives engaged the attackers in a gun duel and successfully repelled the attack, forcing the bandits to flee after sustaining injuries.
According to him, one suspect was arrested during the operation.
He added that two residents sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were currently receiving treatment.
Mr Aliyu urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide security agents with credible information.
