Police have released Osun SSG, says Imole Campaign Council

The campaign group of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke’s re-election, Imole Campaign Council, said Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, arrested on Wednesday by the police has released.
In a statement on Thursday by the campaign council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council thanked the Inspector-General of Police and the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, for listening to the voice of reason.
Mr Olajengbesi, who thanked the police for responding to the people’s demands, described the SSG’s arrest as “unlawful.”
The spokesperson demanded the release of other political detainees who are still in the police custody.
Mr Olajengbesi stated, “We are pleased that the SSG has now been released by the Police. We, however, demand the immediate and unconditional release of all other political detainees still being held.”
The spokesperson said Mr Igbalaye’s courage and sacrifice for the people of the state would not be forgotten.
“The Nigeria Police Force best serves the nation when it stands against oppression and upholds justice and the rule of law,” he said.
Recall that on Wednesday, the police said it arrested Mr Igbalaye alongside five others, after a raid on his Osogbo residence.
The command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said police officers made the arrest following “credible and actionable intelligence that some criminal gangs were hibernating around Oroki Estate Area, Osogbo.
“A suspect, popularly known as “Ashipa,” who has been on the police watchlist in connection with serious criminal offences, including murder and others, was arrested at a residential property linked to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Osun,” the police spokesman said.
Mr Ojelabi said exhibits including N4.8 million cash, one Dynabook laptop, one photocopy machine, one printer, two voter cards and a voter register for wards 1-15, were recovered at the SSG’s house during the operation.
