Police nab two suspects for phone theft in Ebonyi

The police command in Ebonyi State has apprehended two suspects for allegedly stealing a Samsung phone, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, a power bank, and some clothing worth over N1.5 million.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this in Abakaliki on Thursday.
Mr Ukandu said that the incident occurred in January along Nibo Street, Mechanic Village, Abakaliki Local Government Area.
He said that the investigation into the matter had begun, adding that during the investigation, one of the suspects confessed to the crime.
“Officers of the Ebonyi Command are currently investigating a case of stealing involving a suspect, who allegedly stole a Samsung phone, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, a power bank, and some clothing items worth over N1.5 million. The suspect disclosed that he sold a phone at the mobile phone market near Abacha Roundabout in Abakaliki.
“This information led the operatives to the shop of the second suspect, where they recovered the stolen Samsung phone, along with its packet and receipt.
“The command is diligently working to recover the other stolen items and will charge the suspects once the investigation is complete,” Mr Ukandu explained.
He warned members of the public against buying or receiving stolen items, stressing that such act remained a criminal offence.
“Receiving stolen property is a criminal offence, and we should be cautious of individuals seeking to sell items or offering suspiciously cheap deals under the pretext of needing money,” he advised.
