Police nab woman for stealing N380,000

A 22-year-old woman, Barakat Jimoh, was on Monday arraigned before the Ijede Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu for stealing N380,000.

A 22-year-old woman, Barakat Jimoh, was on Monday arraigned before the Ijede Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu for stealing N380,000.

Ms Jimoh, of no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge of stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Aminu Isaac, told the court that the accused person committed the offence at about 12:20 p.m. at No. 10, Mowo Kekere Junction, Ijede area in Ikorodu.

Mr Isaac said the accused stole the money and property of Ibikunle Tobi and converted it to her personal use.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which stipulates three years of jail terms if found guilty.

The magistrate, G.O. Anifowoshe, granted the accused N50,000 bail with one surety.

The magistrate adjourned the case until May 26 for mention.
