Police probe alleged killing of man by Sky Mall MOPOL cops

The Lagos State Police Command has said it launched a probe into the alleged killing of one Anosikwa Patrick by a police 12 PMF squadron.
Disclosing this in a statement on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, issued the directive to detectives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department,
An X user, @NotMentus, had on Saturday, revealed on his handle that an unidentified cop allegedly stabbed his brother to death at the Sky Mall, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Sangotedo, adding that the culprit and his colleague were on the run.
He wrote, “Good morning sir, my brother got stabbed to death by one of the police officers attached to Skymall at Sangotedo Lekki. The officer is currently on the run; his colleague too is on the run.”
Responding to the incident on Sunday, the state police spokesperson promised speedy and diligent investigation to ensure that the culprit was brought to book.
It read, “The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Anosikwa Patrick allegedly stabbed by a police 12 PMF squadron to Lagos.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Adegoke Fayoade, has directed detectives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to ensure a speedy and diligent investigation towards ensuring that the culprit is brought to book. Members of the public shall be kept abreast of the investigation as it progresses.’’
The command’s reaction came a day after the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, reacted to the post by the X user, in which he assured him that the police and other security agencies would take necessary action.
He said, “I hope the command is aware of this. Work with @BenHundeyin, @LagosPoliceNG, and they will do the needful. Sorry about that. We will wade in, too.’’
“@PoliceNG, @FCID_ANNEX, @PoliceNG_CRU, take necessary action as well. Thanks,” he added.
