Police reaffirm commitment to school security in Katsina

The police commissioner of police in Katsina, Ali Umar-Fage, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of schools across the state.

The police commissioner of police in Katsina, Ali Umar-Fage, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of schools across the state.

Mr Umar-Fage gave the assurance during a familiarisation visit to Police Secondary School, Mani, as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s school security architecture.

The police commissioner, accompanied by the coordinator of the School Protection Squad, Katsina command, assessed the school’s existing security structure and interacted with officers, staff and students.

Addressing the school community, Mr Umar-Fage commended officers and staff for their dedication to duty and urged them to remain vigilant and professional in discharging their responsibilities.

He highlighted the importance of education and the critical role teachers play in shaping responsible citizens and securing the nation’s future.

The commissioner said the protection of schools remained a top priority for the command in line with the inspector general of police’s Safe School Initiative.

Mr Umar-Fage reiterated the command’s resolve to ensure that schools in Katsina State remain safe and conducive for effective teaching and learning.

Speaking on behalf of the staff and students, the school’s commandant, Gaddafi Tasi’u, appreciated the commissioner’s visit and pledged continued cooperation towards maintaining peace, security and discipline within the school environment.
