Police rescue two from collapsed building in Anambra
The Anambra Police Command says it rescued two victims of a collapsed building at Ekeoyibo Market, Amawbia, in the Awka South Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
The command’s public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement in Awka on Thursday.
Mr Ikenga explained that the command received a distress call about the incident at the market near the command’s headquarters.
According to him, the police responded swiftly and took the injured people to an undisclosed hospital for immediate medical treatment.
Mr Ikenga said that on the directive of the commissioner of police, Nnaghe Itam, the deputy commissioner in charge of operations, led operatives to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
He said the area had been cordoned off while rescue operations were still ongoing.
