The Commissioner of Police in Osun, Olawale Olokode, has demanded that the State Security Service (SSS), Osun Command, should hand over DSS officers alleged to have killed a policeman in the state to the police.

Police’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said, “We heard that he was beaten by three personnel of SSS on Saturday. He was reportedly beaten by one David Olowoporoku and two others. The names of the two others have yet to be known but we know of David Olowoporoku.

“He had a head injury so much so that even when he was taken to the hospital, they thought he was dead. The doctors tried to save his life but he died. Before he died on January 23.

The accused operatives, according to reports from the SSS, are facing a disciplinary committee.

However, the police insisted the operatives should be handed over to them.

“This will serve as a deterrent to others even for members of the force.

“We appeal to all the sister security agencies: (let’s) see ourselves as one family working towards the same goal. There shouldn’t be any rivalry among us. We should not take laws into our hands,” Olokode noted.

Opalola, however, said what led to the beating and killing of the policeman was not known as of the time of filing this report.
