Police say several suspects nabbed over Ifon-Ilobu violent clash

The police command in Osun says it has arrested some suspects in connection with the killing of a 28-year-old man in Okanala, Irepodun LGA, on Sunday.
The victim, Ibrahim Kudus, was killed by gunmen. The assailants shot him dead, threw his body into a car and set it ablaze.
Police spokeswoman Yemisi Opalola said Monday in Osogbo that normalcy had returned to the area while some suspects had been arrested.
“We have made arrests concerning the incident, and the CP, Kehinde Longe, has deployed officers to the area to maintain law and order. Presently, police officers are on the ground in the area, and normalcy has returned, and people are going about their lawful businesses,” she said.
The victim’s uncle, Jimoh Kadri, had earlier told journalists that he was the initial target of the gunmen.
“I had gone out when my wife later called to inform me that some people, numbering about 20 wearing hoods, came to the house with guns. I was told they met one of my younger brothers at home and killed him while they also burnt the house,” said Mr Kadiri. “They later dragged my brother’s body into a car and equally burnt him with the car.”
The incident might be a spillover of the crisis over land between Ifon and Ilobu communities in Orolu and Irepodun LGA.
The Osun government on Sunday imposed an indefinite curfew from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on the two communities.
