Policeman kills teenager for shooting fireworks in Delta

A trigger-happy operative of the Delta State Police Command has allegedly killed a 17-year-old for shooting a knockout in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
An X user, @SabuDaniels, in a post on Sunday, shared two videos: one showing the lifeless body of the victim in a pool of blood and the other depicting youths transporting the deceased on a bike.
“The police in Ozoro, Delta State, shot and killed a 17-year-old boy cos he bought and shot knock out, and they left him die according to eye witness. Angry youths took the body to their station and they chased them with tear gas,” the X user in separate posts wrote.
Reacting to the X user’s post about the incident, the command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said two officers are already facing legal action for murder. He noted that the errant officer who shot the victim has been identified and detained, vowing that justice will be served.
Mr Edafe said, “Bro, you know the Policeman has since been identified and detained. The Nigeria Police Force did not send him to kill those he is suppose to protect, hence he will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“The Nigeria Police remain the main force that single out erring officers and make them face the law. This year alone, more than two has been charged to court for murder. This case won’t be an exception because the policeman has no justification at all. He has been detained and the CP has assured the family of justice.”
