Politicians hired gun-wielding thugs to disrupt Matawalle’s Zamfara visit, APC alleges
The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is aware of alleged plans by some politicians to disrupt the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle’s, visit to the state on Thursday.
The state APC publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris, while briefing journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, alleged that thugs were hired by some politicians working against the APC to distract from the event.
Mr Idris said APC had concluded arrangements to receive Mr Matawalle on his homecoming to meet with party leaders, members, supporters, and relations in Gusau and in his hometown, Maradun.
“Unfortunately, we have received credible information that there is a serious, destructive plan for the minister’s visit,” Mr Idris said.
The party also urged the members to disregard any propaganda and plan to distract the minister’s official visit to the state on Thursday.
“We are therefore cautioning all our members against carrying any type of weapon throughout the minister’s visit and beyond.
“This is to ensure adherence to law and order to ensure a successful outing.
“We also have information that they will station some gun-wielding thugs who will shoot at random at our motorcade around Tsafe and while on our way to Maradun,” Mr Idris alleged.
He called on the security agencies to take note of the obnoxious development and act appropriately.
“They should get hold of anyone they know is not our member and immediately hand him over to the security personnel attached to cover the activities,” Mr Idris added.
