The police in Ondo have alleged that politicians planned to disrupt the state’s peace by mobilising youth to cause chaos.

In a statement on Tuesday night, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the spokeswoman for the state police, said the command had received reports of the alleged mobilisation.

“The attention of the police in Ondo State has been drawn through intelligence reports that some political elements are bent on disrupting the peace of the state through concerted efforts and mobilisation of unsuspecting youths of the state.

“Specific reports revealed that sponsors seek to cause mayhem with a view to embarrass the state for certain selfish ends,” Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya said.

She warned politicians to retrace their steps or be made to face the wrath of the law.

Ms Odunlami-Omisanya further assured the state residents of safety ahead of the yuletide.
