Mahmood Yakubu, chair of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections conducted in Ekiti state.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, won by a landslide securing 201,494 votes, while Peoples Democratic Party got 89,554 votes and the Labour Party scored 11,397 votes.

Mr Yakubu said only Ekiti State had presented its collated results as of 6:00 p.m., noting that the commission was still awaiting results from other states.

The INEC chair asked political party and media organisations representatives to reconvene at the International Conference Centre in Abuja on Monday by 11:00 a.m. when collation will resume.

Mr Yakubu, at a 12:00 p.m. press briefing, had said collation would begin by 6:00 p.m. after informing the public he was still awaiting results from other states.

The delay in declaring the results has sparked new worries and called into doubt the integrity of the electoral commission.
