Pre-season: Kwara United beat Ajaokuta Academy

Kwara United FC of Ilorin on Tuesday began their preparations for the 2022/2023 football season with a 3-0 victory over Ajaokuta Football Academy.
The match was played at the Kwara Complex Stadium in Ilorin.
Owolabi Aremu, Ibrahim Mohammed and defender Abiodun Adebayo were the goalscorers as Kwara United ran riot over the academy boys from Kogi.
While Aremu and Adebayo were signed on from Kebbi United of Birnin Kebbi and Niger Tornadoes of Minna, respectively, Mohammed joined the Afonja Warriors on loan from city rivals ABS FC.
The game saw other new signings — Taofik Hameed, Paul Samson and Yakub Hameed — in the starting line-up, while Wasiu Alalade, Wasiu Jimoh, Mohammed and Aremu came on in the second half.
After a goalless first half, Aremu opened the scoring in the 60th minute, while Mohammed added the second in the 75th minute via a sublime free-kick.
Adebayo completed the rout with a beautiful goal from a free kick.
Kwara United will depart for Ikenne in Ogun on Wednesday as they look to continue their preparations with participation in the 2022 Valuejet Pre-Season Championship.
