Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been asked to return to court on July 27, for the continuation of the hearing of his case.

According to BBC Yoruba, Baba Ijesha appeared before the Ikeja Special Offences Court on Monday.

During the trial on Monday, the complainant, Comedienne Damilola “Princess” Adekoya, narrated her ordeal. She explained that she met Baba Ijesha in 2008 at an event where they both agreed to become business partners so they started making comedy skits together.

She also told the court that Baba Ijesha tried to woo her in the process but she rejected his proposal.

Ms Adekoya said that she became friends with Mr Olarenwaju after her marriage ended in 2013 and she has been providing financial support to the actor for his education. She also said that Baba Ijesha has been visiting her home since she supports him financially.

The complainant handed a CD that contains the video evidence of the molestation allegations against Baba Ijesha to the court.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo during Monday’s proceedings asked journalists to leave the court room where the video evidence of the sexual molestation against the minor was showed at the court.

Baba Ijesha’s legal representative Babatunde Ogala, Iyabo Ojo, Gbenga Adeyinka and other concerned parties were also present at the court.

On April 22, Baba Ijesha was arrested for defiling a minor. He was charged with indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault contravening sections 135, 137, 261, 202, 262, and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015.

On June 23, Baba Ijesha pleaded not guilty to the charge against him. He was granted bail by the court base on his health condition.
